STRAPPING YOUNG LAD Enter Studio To Record Third CD
September 16, 2002Innovative cult metallers STRAPPING YOUNG LAD have entered Armoury Studios (FEAR FACTORY, KISS, MÖTLEY CRÜE, VAN HALEN) in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to record their third full-length studio album — their first since 1997's wildly-received City. Devin Townsend, SYL mastermind and guitarist, enthusiastically states: "I often have heard about people wanting a new dominating metal record, and after the work we have put into the new STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, we can proudly say that this may be what you've waited for. An extreme assault of the most musical nature."
Tentatively set for a February 2003 release through Century Media Records, the as-yet-untitled album is being produced by Devin himself, who recently produced (and even sang back-up vocals on) SOILWORK's critically-acclaimed 2002 release, Natural Born Chaos.
Early song titles include "Devour", "Consequence", "Bring On The Young", "Force Fed", "Last Minute", "Aftermath", and "Dirt Pride".
The SYL line-up remains mostly intact, with the legendary Gene Hoglan of DEATH and DARK ANGEL fame on drums, Byron Stroud on bass, and Jed Simon on guitar, with the latest addition of Willy Champagne on keyboards.
The band have plans to tour throughout 2003.
